Maintaining a healthy website
EMW is a modern commercial law firm in London and Milton Keynes. They needed their website in tip-top shape at all times, so we got to work. They wanted someone with unique processes for making sure a site is kept up to date and monitored for uptime and security, and we fit the bill. First, we did an audit to check for the CMS version, the infrastructure, any missing patches, backup status, version control, domain issues, and to see if monitoring software was in place. Then, we made a plan to roll out required updates with as little downtime as possible, and EMW was pleased with our approach and is delighted with how we continue to support them to this day.
Rapid prototyping for new functionality
This collective of 12 high-profile firms is based in the Midlands, London and the South; Law South provides a place to share and grow in the legal profession. As such, they need to be seen to be leading the charge on tech innovation, too, but their website was lacking in functionality. We stepped in with a scoping workshop, a challenger mindset and a fresh direction for the brand. An initial rapid prototype of 2-3 functioning design ideas with an interactive site let Law South see what they could get with our support. We were able to restrict logins, integrate the training management system Dante, support the marketing team and improve the overall functionality of their website. This wouldn’t have been possible as quickly if we didn’t already understand their industry so well.
Recruitment portals that work seamlessly
When newly qualified solicitors need their first placement, NQ Solicitors is ready to help. And their success was so exponential that they needed a new system to help them manage the volume of inquiries online. It had to manage CVs, documents and profiles for both employers and applicants. We helped them “understand the needs of the users of the website, user journeys were worked through, and the functionality [was] listed and mapped out, which NQ Solicitors signed off on. As with all web applications, both UX & UI were taken into account, as was a responsive design to allow the platform to work on all devices. The build of the site was created using the Laravel framework. By using the Vagrant tool Homestead, we were able to create development environments that closely replicated the production server, to reduce environment-related bugs. To further increase stability in our workflow, we used Laravel Forge to provision our staging/production servers and automate releases by pushing to named GIT branches. Automating releases to a staging server allowed NQ to approve new features and allowed us to verify the release process before production.” The result was a slick, disruptive platform that’s changing law recruitment in the UK, full stop.
