about mdx_
Middlesex University (whose main hub is located in Hendon, North London) is famous for their personalised approach to learning and research. The University is focused on “doing” and experience, providing students with the skills for life – to stay ahead in a changing World. The University has a student body of 19,000+ in London, and 37,000+ globally – with campuses in Dubai, Mauritius, and Malta.
the brief_
MDX wanted to increase the number of applications they receive moving forward for post-graduate degrees. A big part of that was to include a digital post graduate guide that could be accessed anywhere in the world.
This was the 2nd year running that MDX wanted to showcase the website to new post graduates applicants. MDX are one of the few universities with a dedicated website for this.
why mdx chose wirebox_
MDX chose Wirebox, because of our long-running history of building successful projections for this magnificent institution.
They chose us due to our technical experience, expertise, and our work in the education sector.
We built their 2021 guide (a one page website), which was successful, but this year in 2022, – we updated the content, and we split out each section into its own page, resulting in a super-low 3% bounce rate.
what we did_
- We aligned the build to strict brand guidelines
- We completed it in a short period of time (both years – in 2021, and in 2022)
- We made sure that it was accessibility optimised for students with disabilities
- We built it in WordPress
- We designed a PDF version of the guide, that students could download
- We built a course quick search widget for the site
- We worked with a content creation agency who outlined the content, and the information architecture
- We embarked on a rigorous testing process, due to accessibility standards
- We implemented various animations, to build depth and character into the site
the result_
The build has resulted in an ultra-low 3% bounce rate. Site visits and applications were at a record high for post graduates. The site gave Wirebox the opportunity to showcase some of the latest accessibility techniques for users. Also, a fast-responsive site resulted in users not having to wait for content to load, creating a reduction in those exiting the site.
