Admissions & content support for education

Educators need every tool in their toolkit to woo students and parents to their institution. Having a fantastic website and rich content is one of the many ways to increase admissions and support alumni. In this piece, see how having a partner with direct experience in the education industry can help organisations enrich their legacy.

Using technology to overcome COVID-19 challenges

COVID-19 ruined Middlesex University’s plans to host its annual event for graduates where they could exhibit their work in the halls to fellow students, professors and potential employers. We stepped in to help. We created a digital exhibition space for Design, Science & Tech and Music grads on the open-source content management system, WordPress. Across 33 programs globally, we created content workflows with approvals, used Laravel to build it for scale and created a phased launch to populate the content before pushing it live.

“I cannot express enough just how grateful we are to Wirebox for their speedy, high-quality work. With the coronavirus situation impacting a lot of our normal business processes, we required the turnaround of a complex website in very little time. Wirebox went above and beyond, delivering a brilliant website with an attractive design, web governance conformity and smooth functionality – and it all went from brief to finished product within about two months. We could not be happier with the result, and are especially glad to say Wirebox remained friendly, constructive and professional the whole time. Will definitely be working with them again in future.”

Upgraded web presence

The London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT) had an ancient (by tech standards) website. It had a lot of plugins and bolt-ons that made it slow and clunky. We advised them on how futureproof an API would be and created fresh designs, a new UX and live prototypes so they could see the development at each stage. This helped their content to shine instead of being held back by the tech that supported it. We developed a WordPress site alongside a Laravel system to manage their course enquiries too. This hybrid model gave them the sales functionality they needed, but within an ecosystem that their team was used to. Our knowledge of the industry helped us quickly get to grips with their requirements and support them with a top-of-the-line and fully integrated website that was purpose-built to their needs.

Admissions for Eton’s feeder school

Holyport College is a brand-new state-funded school with a sole educational sponsor: Eton College. They needed help with their School Information Management System (SIMS) called CapitaSIMS, which is the most widely used Management Information System (MIS) in UK schools, but required a lot of human processing. We got to work. “From our research, we found that CapitaSIMS allows external data to be imported via XML, which was key to the solution which we provided. Wirebox developers created an online form that was implemented onto the website & could be emailed out to parents for them to fill out. On form submission, the data would be recorded in a database for the admissions team to export en masse in an XML format.” This meant no more manual processing and faster admission periods. Overall, our work saved the admissions team 20 hours a week by removing the need for manual input and reducing errors made by ~15% due to the automation of data management.

And that’s not all, we helped MDX with their post-graduate guide too. We’re ready to help you exceed your milestones as well. Talk to us about your goals today.
