opportunities for everyone at wirebox_

When Wirebox started, there was no plan in place for recruitment or how we would go about it. We wanted to work in the tech industry and deliver good products and services to our clients.

Wirebox became very successful at this, but as a company grows you need more people to join the team.

We recruited in the traditional ways, job adverts or recruiters and people we knew in the industry. With recruitment, it is always hit and miss we were but one of the early adopters of apprenticeships which worked very well for us.

One key to our business is the culture and training we offer. We have a good track record and experience in training and increasing the knowledge of the team.

When we bring in new candidates, this is one of the big advantages of working with us. Team members can work on highly prolific projects and get as much training as they need to progress, all in a day’s work.

We constantly review how staff are doing so we can meet their (and our) needs. And we think this open approach has benefited us in many ways.

Some of the opportunities we offer at Wirebox include:

apprenticeships_

As a small company, having the right infrastructure and training in place is hard. With apprenticeship providers able to do training in the course of the programme, Wirebox could offer on-the-job training.

When Higher Apprenticeships started around 2010, Wirebox was able to take on its first apprenticeship. And the apprenticeship providers were a great help. Combined with funding from the UK government, we could really offer great opportunities to people.

Over the years, we have taken on many different types of apprentices across development, sales and marketing. And we are proud that several of our apprentices still work at the company.

work experience_

Wirebox has also taken on a lot of work experience candidates. The placement can last from 3 days to 4 weeks. And, while it is a very short period of time, the candidates are mostly from school and getting their first experience in a job.

As a company, offering these placements is a benefit to us and the candidates. The placements are all from local schools and for them to see a local company working in technology is a real motivation.

Some of the candidates we have had over the years we have been highly impressed with. They are already able to code in multiple languages and are keen to learn what we do.

government employment support_

The government and local authorities have a duty and care to help their residents and one is to support them in employment.

We have worked with a few organisations including STEP2SKILLS. They help people get back into training and employment and they inspire and support people from diverse backgrounds in Hertfordshire to overcome challenges and realise their ambitions.

We have taken on a few candidates from STEP2SKILLS and have been very impressed. They find candidates who have experience in our industry and who can work in our environment.

During the whole process, they support the candidate and Wirebox and this support lasts a long period – until the candidate is well settled.

They also progressively check on their candidates to make sure everything is going well. And we love to see that long-term relationship bear fruit.

direct approach_

Emailing or just knocking on our door is always a way in. We are always looking for innovative and hard-working individuals.

the future_

As Wirebox grows we still hold on to our principles around giving everyone an opportunity.

We have a huge request for work experience, internships and apprenticeships and this is largely because of the work we have been doing. The buzz is around the good things people hear about working at Wirebox and the many diverse opportunities we offer.

We are connecting directly with universities, colleges and schools to offer more training and placements. And one day we hope to offer our own graduate program.

So, I’d you’d like to work with us or create a programme together; please do get in touch.
