Reading the post from Charles Arthur, the Guardian Technology editor on his blog, he brings up a very good point on issues with the cloud.

With this week’s events of Wikileaks and companies like MasterCard, PayPal and then the big cloud provider Amazon EC2 refusing to work with Wikileaks. Obviously this is because of political pressure.

The cloud is the future, worries about putting a website on the net and your site crashing due to number of people viewing your site. This sounds great, but having less control of where your data is hosted can lead to your data being taken offline.

I believe that certain content needs to be restricted on hosted servers, but data being controlled by political and commercial pressures is a bad thing.

Governments and corporations have agendas and that is not always in the best interest of its users.
